What your Hawker course covers

Systems and avionics differ between Hawker models, so the course is built around the exact airplane you'll fly.

  • Honeywell TFE731 engines and model-specific systems
  • Hydraulics, fuel management and electrical systems
  • The avionics fitted to your Hawker
  • Two-crew procedures, callouts and briefings
  • The Hawker's stable, heavy handling, including engine-out work
How it works

From first call to Hawker checkride

  1. Assessment

We review your logbook, your aircraft and your insurance requirements, then outline a course that fits.

  2. Ground school

Systems, limitations, performance and procedures for your exact model and avionics.

  3. Flight training

Normal, abnormal and emergency procedures flown in the aircraft, with live ATC and real weather.

  4. Checkride

When you're ready, you take the practical test in the aircraft and earn your HS-125 type rating.

Why train in the aircraft

No simulator. Real flying.

Most Hawker type rating training happens at a simulator training center, on a fixed multi-week schedule. With DAJETS Training you train in the Hawker itself, on a schedule built around you.

  • Built around youYour course is tailored to your experience, ability and schedule. No fixed multi-week program.
  • At your airportWe can train you in your own aircraft at your home field, or with us at KOPF in Miami.
  • No SOETraining and testing in the aircraft means no 25-hour SOE requirement after your first type rating.
  • Real-world flyingReal G-forces, live ATC, real traffic and actual weather. You learn to make decisions, not rehearse a checkride.

Questions

Hawker type rating FAQ

Can I get a Hawker type rating without a simulator?

Yes. You train in the actual aircraft and take the practical test in it. No simulator course is needed.

Which Hawkers does the HS-125 type rating cover?

The Hawker 700, 750, 800, 800XP, 850XP, 900XP and 1000.

Is a Hawker 800XP type rating the same as an HS-125 type rating?

Yes. The FAA type rating for the Hawker 800XP, and the other models listed, is the HS-125.

Does the HS-125 type rating cover the Hawker 400XP or Hawker 4000?

No. The Hawker 400XP (Beechjet) and the Hawker 4000 use different type ratings that we don't currently offer.

Do I need SOE after my first Hawker type rating?

No, not when you train and test in the aircraft. The FAA requires 25 hours of Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) from first-time type rating applicants trained in a simulator; in-aircraft training does not carry that requirement.

Can I train in my own Hawker at my home airport?

Yes. We can come to your home airport and train you in your own aircraft, or you can train with us at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF), Florida.

How long does Hawker type rating training take?

It depends on your experience, the aircraft and your schedule. Because the course is built around you instead of a fixed program, experienced pilots often finish sooner than a set multi-week simulator course. After reviewing your logbook we give you a realistic estimate.

What do I need before starting Hawker type rating training?

A pilot certificate and a current medical certificate. If you don't hold an instrument rating, the type rating is issued with a "VFR only" limitation. During the assessment we review your certificates, ratings and experience, along with your insurer's requirements.

Is your Hawker type rating training insurance-approved?

Yes. Our programs are insurance-approved. Tell us your underwriter's requirements during the assessment and we will make sure your course meets them.
