Can I get a Phenom 300 type rating without a simulator?
Yes. You train in the actual aircraft and take the practical test in it. No simulator course is needed.
What does the EMB-505 type rating cover?
The Embraer Phenom 300 and Phenom 300E.
Is the Phenom 300 type rating single-pilot?
Yes. The Phenom 300 is certificated for single-pilot operation, and we train and test you for single-pilot operation.
Does a Phenom 300 type rating cover the Phenom 100?
No. The Phenom 100 needs its own EMB-500 type rating, which we also offer.
Is there an online Phenom 300 ground school?
Yes. Our Ground School app at app.typerating.aero has a Phenom 300 course built for the Embraer EMB-505 Phenom 300 (Prodigy flight deck with Garmin G1000, Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E engines, single-pilot): interactive systems schematics, limitations, memory items and CAS drills, performance, single-pilot SRM scenarios and a mock oral. A free preview lets you try it before you buy.
How much is the Phenom 300 ground school?
$399 for 12 months of the Phenom 300 course, or $499 for Lifetime access. Each is a single payment and nothing renews. Lifetime covers the Phenom 300 course only. Lifetime means for as long as we offer the course, and at least 36 months from purchase.
Does the online Phenom 300 ground school replace differences training?
No. The courses are study material for training purposes only. They don't replace your flight training, differences training or any other training the FAA requires.
Do I need SOE after my first Phenom 300 type rating?
No, not when you train and test in the aircraft. The FAA requires 25 hours of Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) from first-time type rating applicants trained in a simulator; in-aircraft training does not carry that requirement.
Can I train in my own Phenom 300 at my home airport?
Yes. We can come to your home airport and train you in your own aircraft, or you can train with us at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF), Florida.
How long does Phenom 300 type rating training take?
It depends on your experience, the aircraft and your schedule. Because the course is built around you instead of a fixed program, experienced pilots often finish sooner than a set multi-week simulator course. After reviewing your logbook we give you a realistic estimate.
What do I need before starting Phenom 300 type rating training?
A pilot certificate and a current medical certificate. If you don't hold an instrument rating, the type rating is issued with a "VFR only" limitation. During the assessment we review your certificates, ratings and experience, along with your insurer's requirements.
Is your Phenom 300 type rating training insurance-approved?
Yes. Our programs are insurance-approved. Tell us your underwriter's requirements during the assessment and we will make sure your course meets them.
