Can I get a CJ3 type rating without a simulator?
Yes. You train in the actual aircraft and take the practical test in it. No simulator course is needed.
Is the CJ3 type rating the CE-525?
Yes. The FAA type rating for the Citation CJ3 and CJ3+ is the CE-525, the same rating as the CitationJet, CJ1, M2, CJ2 and CJ4. Moving between CJ models, including from the CJ3 to the CJ3+, takes differences training.
Is the CJ3+ single-pilot?
Yes. The CJ3 and CJ3+ are certificated for single-pilot operation, and we train and test you for single-pilot operation.
Is there an online Citation CJ3+ ground school?
Yes. Our Ground School app at app.typerating.aero has a Citation CJ3+ course built for the Cessna 525B Citation CJ3+ (Garmin G3000, Williams FJ44-3A engines, single-pilot): interactive systems schematics, limitations, memory items and CAS drills, performance, single-pilot SRM scenarios and a mock oral. A free preview lets you try it before you buy. The course covers the CJ3+, not the Pro Line 21 CJ3.
How much is the Citation CJ3+ ground school?
$399 for 12 months of the Citation CJ3+ course, or $499 for Lifetime access. Each is a single payment and nothing renews. Lifetime includes every CE-525 course on sale when you buy, which today means the Citation CJ3+, the Citation M2, the CitationJet and the Citation CJ1. Lifetime means for as long as we offer the course, and at least 36 months from purchase.
Does the online Citation CJ3+ ground school replace differences training?
No. The courses are study material for training purposes only. They don't replace your flight training, differences training or any other training the FAA requires.
Do I need SOE after my first CJ3 type rating?
No, not when you train and test in the aircraft. The FAA requires 25 hours of Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) from first-time type rating applicants trained in a simulator; in-aircraft training does not carry that requirement.
Can I train in my own CJ3 at my home airport?
Yes. We can come to your home airport and train you in your own aircraft, or you can train with us at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF), Florida.
How long does CJ3 type rating training take?
It depends on your experience, the aircraft and your schedule. Because the course is built around you instead of a fixed program, experienced pilots often finish sooner than a set multi-week simulator course. After reviewing your logbook we give you a realistic estimate.
What do I need before starting CJ3 type rating training?
A pilot certificate and a current medical certificate. If you don't hold an instrument rating, the type rating is issued with a "VFR only" limitation. During the assessment we review your certificates, ratings and experience, along with your insurer's requirements.
Is your CJ3 type rating training insurance-approved?
Yes. Our programs are insurance-approved. Tell us your underwriter's requirements during the assessment and we will make sure your course meets them.
